TRIP Takes PANAF and AME to Touch Base with Angeles City and Malolos Schools
by: Aye Ubaldo

Educators need to come to grips with digital media.  On the one hand, an inextricable tool in modern teaching, on the other, digital media is its most fierce competition.  As emphasis on a degree may be waning – what with the proliferation of big name, big bucks college dropouts digital success stories – the more urgent the need to reach out and touch, the old-fashioned way.

On its third year of holding, The Road show on IMC by PANAF or TRIP is a joint project of PANA Foundation (PANAF) and the Association of Marketing Educators (AME) to bring IMC closer to the students through lectures by industry authorities.  AME takes care of inviting schools to send their students and faculty to attend the talks while PANAF delivers the speakers, chosen from the best of the Philippines’ integrated marketing communicators.

Last September 24, some PANAF and AME Directors found themselves on the road to the Holiday Inn Clark in Angeles City for the 1st TRIP event this school year.

The TRIP Event

The event featured Carole Ann Sarthou, Managing Director of Synovate Inc., and Resty Magno, Managing Director of Admax Network Philippines.  While Sarthou expounded on the importance of being one step ahead in marketing with Trendcasting, Magno presented the benefits of Advertising over Social Networking Sites.  Students came from Angeles University Foundation (AUF), Holy Angel University, Centro Escolar University-Malolos, Systems Plus College Foundation, Mary the Queen College, Jose C. Feliciano College and the Pangasinan State University.

Former PANAF Trustee and current Dean of the College of Business and Accountancy of AUF, Dr. Chere Yturralde was one of the proponents of the PANAF and AME partnership.  She was then the National President of the AME.   Mina Gervacio, PANAF Trustee and Adolfo Aran III, AME National President joined the road trip.

The more than 500 student attendees were also treated to a special screening of the 2009 Cannes Lions Advertising Festival Winners courtesy of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, as well as to some raffle prizes courtesy of PANAF.
